Bucket List Trips

Life is what happens to you while you are busy making other plans. –John Lennon

Definition of “bucket list”

Noun, informal: A number of experiences or achievements that a person hopes to have or accomplish during their lifetime. Origin: early 21st century: from the phrase “kick the bucket” popularized by the 2007 movie The Bucket List.

Since we introduced the “Bucket List” concept our members have organized a variety of different experiences about which they were enthusiastic and wanted to share with their fellow members. These include:

  • History of The Car at V&A

  • Wimbledon

  • Billingsgate Fish Market

  • Clay-pigeon shooting

  • Cricket at the Oval

  • Vintage Sports Car Championship at Silverston

  • St Alban’s Cathedral guided tour

  • Whisky tasting evening

  • Haunted Harpenden

  • Visit to the National Archive

  • Mini Plant guided tour

  • Tour of Rothamsted Manor led by Professor Plumb

  • Guided Tour of the Newsprinters Broxbourne plant

  • Visit to the Foreman and Field salmon smoker in East London

These outings are organised by our members with the help of the Events sub-committee who will arrange more such Bucket trips.

The Club has re-published (June 2020) a document containing its “GUIDELINES FOR ALL ACTIVITIES”. These apply to all activities organised by the club or its members. Click on this link to read the document.
