Walking Group

Links

The aim of the group is to organise monthly walks which are 4 to 5 miles in length.  The day on which walks are held will rotate around Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs.   The intention is to hold the walks all-year round, but to cancel a walk if the weather is clearly going to be unsuitable.

Each walk will have a designated leader who makes all the arrangements, and to whom any questions about that walk should be directed.  The walking dates will be set several months in advance and details of each walk are sent out roughly 10 to 14 days ahead of the walk;  members will be asked to inform the leader whether or not they will participate at least 2 days before the walk; the leader will circulate the names of those participating, to assist in the car sharing arrangements.

Normally we will assemble at the start of a walk and finish with a pub lunch. Many of the walks will be circular, but leaders are free to organise out-and -back walks or one way walks for which we will use public transport or our cars at the start or the end. During the summer month, we will consider going further afield on one or two occasions for a full day outing.

Because so many participants have email addresses, communications will be mainly by email, with telephone or letter used for the others

Members interested in joining the walking group should contact Doug Rodger

The following dates (and leaders) have been set for the walks in the second half of 2011:

Thursday July 28th Graham
Wed Aug 24th Tony Scott
Tuesday Sept 20th Peter
Monday Oct 24th Meric
Thursday Nov 24th Derek Morris - London walk

Because parking might be limited at some places, we should aim to maximise car-sharing.  It will be left to individuals to organise car-sharing but there are some obvious groupings:

-Allan, John, Tony C, Nigel, Ian

-Vernon, Stuart, Tony S, Peter

- Keith, Meric, Doug, Phil

- Graham, Mehmet
